WHAT
INFORMATION DO I NEED TO HAVE READY?

The
majority of the information we need to provide coverage can
be found in the property records of the county where your
home is located.
All
we need is the property address and owner’s name to access
the appropriate record. Your personal and contact
information is generally the only other data we will
require.
If
you are purchasing a home, most or all of the information we
need can be relayed to us from your lender, real estate
professional or title company. |

HOW
HAS COVERAGE AGAINST DISASTERS BEEN AFFECTED RECENTLY?

As
we have all heard from the media, many insurance companies
are reeling from the claims they have had to pay as a result
of the recent series of natural disasters.
The
reality is that the majority of those companies that were
hit hardest are no longer providing this kind of coverage.
That

priced homeowners insurance in their area,
regardless of the catastrophic events of the past few years. |
DO I NEED FLOOD INSURANCE?
If your new home is located in an area that has been determined by the federal government to be a Flood Zone “A”, and the property is financed by a mortgage, your lender will require that you carry flood insurance in addition to your homeowners
coverage.
Even if the property is in a Flood Zone B, C or X (or outside a federally designated flood area), flood coverage should be carefully considered.
Keep in mind that much of the recent storm damage to homes
OUTSIDE of recognized Flood Zones was caused by rising water, which is
NOT COVERED by standard homeowners policies.
